History of 'Handful of Keys'

'Handful of Keys' began as a project to inspire my students to
practice in the difficult keys as well as the easy ones. All the
etudes on this CD were recorded in complete takes, with no
editing  of any kind. I wanted to stress musical phrasing
rather than computerized perfection.

Paul Randall has been Principal Trumpet with the North Carolina Symphony
since 1988. He was previously Principal Trumpet with the New Orleans
Symphony.

This CD was recorded using a Bach B-flat model 37 trumpet with a Schilke 16C4
mouthpiece. It was recorded in 2003 in Cary, North Carolina. Mastering was done by
Robinette Recordings.
