Paul Randall - Trumpet

Paul Randall joined the North Carolina Symphony as Principal Trumpet
in 1988 and holds the Georges Smedes Poyner chair. He was previously
Principal Trumpet with the New Orleans Symphony. Paul's career
began in 1973 when he was selected to join the New Orleans Symhony
as 2nd Trumpet at age seventeen. He later became Principal Trumpet in
1977. While in New Orleans he played under Leonard Slatkin, Phillipe
Entremont, and Maxim Shostakovich, and participated in many national
and international tours.

Paul has performed many times as soloist with the New Orleans
Symphony, as well as with the North Carolina Symphony. In addition to
his regular concert season work, Paul plays with many summer music
festivals, including the Casals Festival, the Chautauqua Festival, the
Grand Teton Festival, and the Eastern Music Festival.  In 1993, Paul
premiered a concerto written for him by Carl Roskott at the Eastern
Music Festival. Paul is also a founding member of the Capital Brass,
comprised of members of the N.C. Symphony. Besides practicing, and
listening to a lot of music at home, Paul is an avid tennis player.
Paul recently completed 'Handful of Keys', a CD containing Etudes
